Il Castello di Barattano is a romanic B&B located in a wing of a fortified castle. It stands at 454 m (a.s.l. – 1.490 ft) midway between Todi and Montefalco and is surrounded by the green Umbrian hills.
The castle is a wonderful example of the Umbrian military architecture of the 13th century, a charming and well-preserved place, full of history. It features a large medieval wall and entrance gate, characteristic alleys, and high towers. Within the walled area is the 13th century Church of San Bartolomeo, embellished with two wooden angels from16th century, and frescoes from the same and the following century.
The B&B is located in a relevant part of the Castle. It features five independent apartments of various sizes, a large courtyard, and a beautiful swimming pool that commands a wonderful view over the Sagrantino’s valley.
Features
The apartments occupy three floors and are serviced by a splendid internal stairway in solid wood. In the apartments there are stone walls, wooden ceilings, terracotta tiles floors, and old fireplaces, The charm is augmented by testimonies of past times: galleries, arrow slits, and sighting seats.
Outside
The property’s courtyards are two: the first is in common and is in front of the medieval gate; the second is a private area, where there is the country garden, the swimming pool, and the solarium.
